Q: What is your cancelation policy?
Because of the high cost of food and supplies we incur with each class, our cancelation policy is as follows:
- Within five days of class date: full refund
- Within 24 hours of class date: full credit on future class
- Cancelation same day as class: no refund
- No-shows: no refund
If, for any reason, Gourmand Cooking School cancels a class, students can opt for a full refund or placement in the rescheduled class.
Q: What is your kitchen like?
Our classes take place at Mileto Gourmet in Point Pleasant Beach. The facility’s full commercial kitchen is complete with a 10-burner stove, convection oven, deep-fat fryer, and grill. We also incorporate many of the products and tools you would find in your home kitchen.
Q: Do you offer cooking classes for kids?
While we currently do not offer classes for children, we are working to develop a kid-friendly curriculum.
Q: What is your minimum-age requirement?
A: Due to the hands-on nature of our classes in a commercial setting, we request that all guests be at least 13 years old.
Q: Are your classes hands on?
Yes, all classes are hands on except for those listed in our Chef’s Table category (although we may ask for volunteers).
Q: What happens with food left over from class?
A: With a few exceptions, all food prepared in class may be brought home to share with friends and family. We request that students bring takeout containers to class in the event that leftovers are available (they usually are). Gourmand Cooking School reserves the right to restrict the transport of raw or undercooked foods from the premises.
Q: Is there a dress code?
We suggest you dress casually and comfortably. In our hands-on classes—for sanitation purposes—students should wear long pants, a shirt with sleeves, and flat, close-toe shoes. Dangling or excessive jewelry is not recommended. We’ll provide aprons for use during class.

No, all classes are geared for everyone, regardless of skill level.

Yes, guests are welcome to bring wine or beer to enjoy both during the session and at the end of class, when we’re savoring the fruits of our labor! Gourmand reserves the right to restrict the amount of liquor consumed during class.
Q: Can you accommodate food allergies or dietary needs?
Because of the commercial nature of our facility, we can’t make special arrangements for dietary needs or allergies. Tree nuts, dairy, seafood, flour, and other potential allergens are often used and prepared on premises, which may lead to cross contamination. In the event an allergen or dairy product is used, the instructor may be able to substitute that ingredient in a future preparation.
